Angels, I touched briefly on them in the section Spirit guides, but the subject of angels is far fetching and not to be taken lightly. For that reason, I have chosen to delve a little deeper for those of you who do not fully grasp the role they play in our lives.

First the word Angels derives from the Greek word Angelos meaning “messenger”. They are the purest of spirit and the ones since the beginning of time that have never lost contact with the Creator.

When angels present to us, they can do it in many ways. It is all dependent on how we are willing to accept them. They may come in the form of a man or a woman or they may appear in the form of an animal, whatever shape they take, you must realize that they are not any of these in life. They are pure energy and light. They only present to us in a way that we, as humans, are able to see them and in that way, they keep us protected from their power.

There are seven categories of Angels. Each category serves a specific purpose to us in life and I would be remiss if I did not touch briefly on each level and how they interact with us.

First, there is the choir of angels. And as you guessed, this is the host of angels who sing praise to the creator, to the God of all things, to my God. As we raise our voices in song, in inspiration, in praise of our belief in God, these hosts join in our voice and raise it to the level of frequency it needs to reach the ears of God. Plus, let’s face it, the way I sing, I need all the help I can get, I sound like a frog in heat.

Guardian Angels are those who stay with us throughout our life here in flesh. Not to be confused with soul guides who also work with us, these angels are there to watch over our complete journey and are especially vigilant to our spiritual awareness and happiness.

Elders, this name is given to a group of twenty four angels who sit upon thrones encircling the throne of Jesus. It is theorized that they are the supreme hierarchy of angels and that they sit by God in all things.

The watchers or grigori are the ultimate in angels. They are greater than all the other angels combined, matched by no other creatures in the entire heavenly host. They reside directly next to the very throne of God and, with the holy ones; act as the court officials of heaven, debating every case that comes before the blessed throne. The watchers and the holy ones were mentioned in the Book of Daniel (4:17).

Angels of the day, months and planets - yes we have angels that govern these things, much as we have congressmen and senators who reside over our country protecting and ensuring our rights as human beings to prosper and grow.

Manna angels, these angels are responsible for our manna from heaven, our gifts from God and are ever vigilant to ensure we do not abuse the power which comes with his gifts.

Messenger angels are one of the central intermediaries or representatives of the Lord to humanity. Existing entirely at the will and in the service of God, the angel is frequently dispatched to earth to deliver some important revelation or declaration, usually having much impact upon the lives of the recipients. Aside from the other tasks given to them in relating to earthly affairs, angels are mentioned frequently in the Bible in the ministering role of messengers. While angels have many other duties in tradition, both in heaven and on earth, their role as messengers is still one central to their existence, serving to remind an often forgetful world that God loves all of his Creation and is concerned for its well-being.

Although I have touched briefly again on this subject, I would again encourage each of you to do research into those things you choose to believe and include in your spiritual foundation. Education and understanding is the key to spiritual growth and it is our wish to start a spark of curiosity that might lead you to find the answers you seek in life.
